Linderhof Castle

6/22/08

Today we went to Linderhof Castle. The castle was one of eight or so castles belonging to King Ludwig. He had passion for money, and for composer Richard Wagner. He preferred being at home rather than out being a leader. Well anyway, it was a cool castle complete with stone walls, Rococo and Baroque decor and a large fountain on a wheel cog timer.

We finished off the evening with dinner at Grainau near our campsite, where we had a delightful waiter named Stephran. He spoke about three languages (more than one impressed us of course) and had a great sense of humor. He told us how he grew up there and loves it. The place really would be called “the middle of nowhere” except for its a place people would want to be. He sent us home with a free shot of Czechoslovakian whisky. I think I could get used to this Europe thing.

Cheers,

Gabe
